"Dearest Kennedy Family,My heart broke today, when Agnes Meister Hutchinson called at 9:23 a.m. to tell me about your Mother's death. If I had know earlier, I would have come to her funeral today to help "celebrate" her life. Your Mom and Dad meant a great deal to my family. I remember when they moved across the street from my parents, Dan and Ella McCoy on Sheridan Road and how much fun we all had there and elsewhere. Your parents celebrated John's and my pending wedding with a marvelous Christmas shower, Dec. '69....every year I think about them when I get out the beautiful Nativity they gave us that evening. And, of course, I remember all of the Kennedys at our wedding on Valentine's Day, '70 I wish I had known about Jerry, and was with all of you today. You all, and your Mom, and your Dad are in my heart and prayers. May God bless you with the strength you need during this difficult time, and may our Mother, Mary, envelope you with her arms as your Mother did for you for so many years. Love, Patti McCoy Cody, Dallas, TX"

"Suze and all of the Kennedy family.... I was so shocked and saddened last night when Jeff's mom called and told me she saw this in the paper. I have such fond memories of all of you from high school and Purdue days. Your mom was a great lady and I am certain she is in a better place as she did so much for so many people. My memories of her and your dad will always be with me as they often made me laugh and certainly always showed an interest in all of our lives. She will be missed by so many but I am sure she is up above discussing things with your dad right now. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.. "
