Frank G. Koziura
December 2, 1918 - January 2, 2013

Frank G. Koziura, 94, of Zionsville, IN peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Jan. 2, 2013. He was born in New Kensington, PA on December 2, 1918 to the late Martin Koziura and his wife Olga (Sokacz) Koziura who immigrated from Poland. Frank is the last of his other five siblings: Vincent, John, Mary, Marcella and Rose to pass away.

Frank graduated from Arnold High School in Arnold, PA in 1937. He began his working career with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company where he became an Assistant Store Manager in Arnold, PA. On June 26th, 1940 he enlisted in the U.S. Army in the Corp of Engineering. Upon completing Officer Candidate School on Jan. 6th, 1943 he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. On June 5th, 1943 he married his hometown sweetheart Lewella A. McCluskey. Following his tour of duty in Australia, New Guinea, Dutch New Guinea, Philippines and Japan during WWII he was discharged as a Captain on Feb. 14th, 1946. After the war Frank attended the University of Miami in Florida and then subsequently spent the majority of his working life in the Engineering and Drafting Services organization at the General Motors Allison Division in Indianapolis, IN until he retired. During his work life at Allison Frank remained active in the U.S. Army Reserve where he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel on Jan. 5, 1962.

Frank had a natural artistic talent for drawing, oil painting, and creating beautiful stained glass art work. Frank's creative artistic imagination also made it possible for him to take something that others saw as plain and ordinary and turn it into something unexpectedly unique and beautiful. His art work will be a visually pleasant way for keeping his memory alive for current and future family members.

Some of the activities that Frank enjoyed most during his life with his wife and family included camping, square and ballroom dancing, bowling, family gatherings, church functions and road trips.

Visitation and the funeral ceremony will be held at the Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel at 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN on Jan. 7th, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with calling from 9:30 A.M.

Frank Koziura is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lewella Koziura and two sons Charles and Larry Koziura. A daughter, Cathy Koziura predeceased Frank on July 23rd, 2009. Frank has seven grandchildren: Charles Jr., Lisa, Michael, Amy, Kim, Chris and Amanda and five great grandchildren: Grant, son of Lisa Gilbert, Zoe and Daphne, daughters of Michael and Melina Koziura, Ellie, daughter of Chris and Meehan Koziura and Katie, daughter of Greg and Amanda Quick.
