Margaret "Marge" Engelking, age 78, of Carmel, passed away September 29, 2014. She was born June 19, 1936 in Enfield, Illinois to the late Arthur and Lillian (Basinger) Deom. She was raised in Poseyville, Indiana. She married Tom Engelking on November 17th 1962 and they were married for nearly 52 years.
Marge received a Bachelor's degree in education from Indiana State University and a Master's degree from Butler University. She was a special education teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1998.
Marge was always busy helping others. She was very active in the lives of her family, friends and her grandchildren. She was a deeply spiritual person and her inner journey was a focal point in her life.
Marge is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tom Engelking, her sons David Engelking and Scott Engelking; her daughter-in-law Lara Engelking, and her grandsons Zach and Max Engelking. She is also survived by siblings: Marie Kohut, Lucy Deom, Cathy Deom, Patt Flynn, Tom Deom, Sue Deom, and Monica Winders. She was preceded in death by her daughter Maria and siblings: Ruth Greenwood, Eleanor Deom, Alfred Deom, Lawrence Deom, Rita Deom, Gene Deom, Dorothy Lagapa, and Joan Bayh.
