Dr. Dorsey
April 16, 1952 - April 16, 2015

Dr. Timothy Michael Dorsey, 63, of Indianapolis, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 16, 2015, his 63rd birthday. Tim was born on April 16, 1952, to the late Alfred G. and Elizabeth A. (Wheeler) Dorsey.
Tim attended grade school at St. Joan of Arc and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Schools. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1970. He continued his education at Indiana University where he was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Tim graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1978, and began his dental practice in Thorntown, Indiana. He cared for his patients and staff with gentleness and compassion, practicing there for 34 years before retiring in 2012. In 2011 he was nominated by his peers as one of Indianapolis' Top Dentists.
Tim met the love of his life, Marilyn (Fuller) Dorsey, at Indiana University, and they married in June 1978. They were a perfect match and provided their children with a wonderful example of love and happiness. They were married for 36 years.
He is survived by Marilyn, his three children Erin Thompson (Joe), Meghan Isles (Brandon), and Ryan Dorsey; three granddaughters Allison and Anna Thompson, Lucy Isles, and one expected grandchild in June 2015. He is also survived by his siblings, Daniel Dorsey and Michael Dorsey (Yasmin). He also leaves behind many great friends.
He enjoyed playing tennis, taking walks, and working in his garden. Tim's enthusiasm for life was unmatched. He loved his family, friends, IU, and all things Irish. He treasured spending time with his granddaughters and sharing moments with those he loved at the lake.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Tim's life Sunday April 19th, 2015 from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20th at St. Luke Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace. "Having first met Tim at IU during a Pi Kappa Alpha rush function you always knew he was special. Not only was he a great person but a very caring and compassionate one as well. The relationship was maintained through the years by him being not only my dentist, but also the dentist for our entire family. My last conversation with Tim was at his office the day he was leaving the practice. We talked and in the end gave each other a huge hug. We feel very sorry for the family as you have lost a great husband and a tremendous dad. May God strengthen all of you and Tim may you be blessed as your suffering has come to an end. God bless and may you rest in peace."
