In loving memory of

Kathryn Moulder
July 25, 1950 - August 10, 2015

Kathryn Ohmer Moulder, 65, of Carmel, Indiana passed away peacefully at home after a hard-fought battle with cancer on August 10th, 2015. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring sister, loyal friend and talented artist.

Kathy is survived by her husband Harold Douglas Moulder; children David Graham Moulder, John Jacob Moulder and Mary Kathryn Moulder; granddaughters Hannah Sophia Moulder and Alexis Katherine Moulder. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Elizabeth Moulder and parents Donald and Sofka Ohmer.

Kathy, whose lineage was half-Bulgarian, was born in Flint, Michigan in 1950. The oldest of five siblings (George, Andy, Tom and John Ohmer), she spent her early childhood living in Europe (Luxembourg) before eventually settling in Carmel, Indiana. She attended Carmel High School and graduated in 1968 before attending Butler University where she met her lifelong best friend, Barbara Quandt. Shortly after, she was introduced to her future husband and the love of her life, Doug Moulder.

Kathy and Doug, who recently celebrated their 41st anniversary, met in Carmel and were married at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in 1974. Although they moved around the country several times, Carmel was always their home. They returned permanently in 1985 to raise their children within the Carmel Clay School System. Kathy was involved in countless school activities and even took on part time jobs working with special needs children as a teacher's aide and as an assistant on school buses for children with special needs.

Kathy was also heavily involved with all four kids' countless after-school sports and activities. Known in many circles as "the Carpool Queen" Kathy made it a point to attend every baseball game, swim meet, tennis match, and travel team event. She could always be heard proudly cheering for her children and their teams.

Kathy's life was defined by her unconditional love for all animals. Whether it was her three dogs Sadie, Betsy and Henry (the latter two being rescues) or her past pet loves, which not only included many beloved family dogs but also cats, turtles, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and countless injured critters she'd nurse back to health, she certainly lived up to her nickname, "Mother Nature".

Her love of animals was matched by her talents with a paintbrush. Just this past July, Kathy was recognized as a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana (WSI). Her painting "Imagine Canyon" was also selected to appear in the WSI Exhibit and can be seen at the Indianapolis Museum of Art from October 11th - December 5th.

Kathy's creativity stretched far beyond the canvas. The results of her green thumb can be seen growing all throughout the yard outside her home, while her unique decorating style and hand-crafted mosaics light up the inside - so much so that the house was featured in The Indianapolis Star.

Thanks to her kind-hearted spirit and one-of-a-kind sense of humor, Kathy's life and love will live on through everyone who knew her.

Funeral services for Kathy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15th in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, located at 1402 W Main St, Carmel, IN 46032. Burial will follow at the Carmel Cemetery on Rangeline.

"The service today was very moving and I had forgotten just how unique and interesting Kathy was. I haven't been in contact since back in the carpooling and young kid times. The spoon story was a hoot and I can see it. My prayers are with you all. Anne"

I too shall remember her and her smile. Blessings to you and family--and if I can be of any help--please let me know. Again my apologies, I had no idea. "

"I knew Kathy for almost 23 years and she always has been one of the kindest people on Earth. Funny, unique, caring, gentle, loving, and generous. Just like her daughter Susan, they knew how to make people laugh and how to make situations more fun. Since Susan's passing, I know Kathy has enjoyed talking with me (and all of Susan's friends) more then ever and vice-versa. I will miss talking with Kathy about Susan. I am sure Susan was waiting for Kathy as she peacefully left us. I know it's not a comfort for the rest of us on Earth, but hopefully it was a huge comfort to be reunited with her loving daughter. Love, prayers, and thoughts to Mr. Moulder, Dave, John, and Mary. I can't imagine how difficult this is for you all a 2nd time around. Please reach out when you need me."

"It's been an honor and a pleasure to call Kathy my aunt. She was always unselfish in giving of her love and time to helping her family and friends. And she always knew one more potato in the pot would never hurt so there were enough mashed potatoes to go around! May God give Doug, David, John, and Mary strength and comfort now and always! "
