His first appointment as a Salvation Army officer was as an associate officer at The Salvation Army Citadel Corps and Community Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

On Sept. 1, 2012, Major Scott entered honored retirement from The Salvation Army after faithfully serving for 45 years.
His joy and passion was to teach, preach God's Word, pastor congregations and serve "others." As a Salvation Army officer, he was active in the Rotary Club and the ministerial.
He enjoyed summer vacations on Marco Island in Florida, where he and his wife attended The Salvation Army Naples Citadel Corps and Community Center.
Major Robert Lee Scott's remnant will live on through his wife of 44 years; son Jason Scott of Muncie, IN, daughter Amanda Scott of Indianapolis; brother Bobby James Scott and sister Martha Scott, both of Barnhart, Mo.; sister Ann (Malcolm) Davis of Jemison, AL.; and nephew Kenneth Scott and niece Bella (Benjamin) Graffam, of Boston, Mass.

"I was truly blessed to be trained by and assist Major Scott in Fort Wayne. I trust that the God that he served is now the giver of strength, support, and comfort for those he left behind. May you find that comfort in Him today and in the days to come. "
