Alfred F. Marlett
November 10, 1923 - May 19, 2016

Alfred Franklin "Freddie" Marlett, 92 of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Keokuk died Thursday, May 19, 2016, in Trinity Hospital in Bettendorf IA.
Fred was born November 10, 1923 in Carthage, IL the son of Thomas E. and Mabel L. Dobbs Marlett. On June 10, 1951 he married Constance "Ardeen" Burris. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2015. Fred had lived in Keokuk for seventy years before moving to Bettendorf last November to be near a daughter. He graduated from Montrose High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity before entering the Navy during WWII. Fred worked for forty years starting at Iowa Fiber Box, then Hoerner Box, and retired from Champion Box.
He was of the Methodist faith and attended the First Baptist Church in Keokuk. He was also a fifty year member of Keokuk Lodge #29 A.F. & A.M., and had just received his fifty year pin for membership in Elmira Chapter #40 O.E.S. of Keokuk. Fred was a member of Keokuk American Legion and Last Man's Club. On September 16, 2010 he was honored of going on the HONOR FLIGHT to Washington, DC.
He was always on the move, and tinkering with anything and being outside. His greatest pride was his family and being able to be with his great grandchildren.
Fred is survived by two daughters Connie (Tim) Gray of Blue Grass, Iowa, Bonnie (Kent) Fuller of Louisville, KY. Four grandchildren Monica Capper (Cory) of Altoona IA, Melanie Stuhr (Nathan) 0f Blue Grass, IA, Mark Gray of Sterling, IL, Mackenzie Gray (Fiance Matthew Leal). Three great grandchildren; Eleanor and Frederick Capper and Amelia Stuhr. A brother Eugene (Edna) Marlett and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Charlotte, and a daughter Colleen Wade.
Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday May 25, 2016 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration Center on Blondeau St. with Reverend Dale Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation with family will be from 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of service.
Memorials have been suggested to the Iowa Veterans Foundation, 227 S 6th St. Council Buffs, IA 51501.
