"RIP Forrest. Will miss you, your smile, and your friendship at RIO Valley Estates. Rita Sutherland"
John Forrest Horn passed away from natural causes on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at his home in Weslaco, Texas.
Forrest was born to Roland and Forest Horn in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 7, 1936. He spent his formative years with his parents and two brothers in Rainy River, Ontario and later started his own family in Chicago, Illinois where he worked as a carpenter and a hospitality industry professional. He eventually returned north where he was Owner and Manager of the Flame Club in International Falls, Minnesota. Forrest went on to serve as the Operations Manager of the Guest House Motor Inn in Watertown, South Dakota, before easing into retirement near South Padre Island in Texas.
For all who knew him, Forrest always had a genuine smile on his face and some disarming humor up his sleeve. Forrest had a special way with his customers, and formed life-long bonds with his employees. He will be missed deeply.
Forrest is survived by his brother Roland, his sons, Jody and Troy, and his grandchildren, Finn, Cooper and Ella Rose. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Darrell.
A small family service will take place on September 16 on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico near South Padre Island. Online condolences can be offered at www.mccalebfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers or donations we think Forrest would like if you just be really nice to everyone today. He was better at that than anyone.
