Clara Beth Schmidt

Clara Beth (Bray) Schmidt, 99 of Indianapolis, passed away June 7, 2016. She had been an assistant professor of nursing at the Indiana University School of Nursing retiring in 1982. Previously she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association for 15 years. She graduated from Indianapolis City Hospital (now Eskenazi Health). She earned a B.S. and a M.S. degree from Indiana University. She was elected to the Pi Lambda Theta Honorary Educational Sorority. She had been an instructor at the Indianapolis Public School of Practical Nursing and worked at Wishard Memorial Hospital as well as Indiana University Hospitals. She did volunteer service over 30 years for the American Red Cross. She is a member of Augusta Christian Church (DOC) where she served as elder, diaconate and chairperson of the Council of Moderators. She was widow of Paul A. Schmidt. She was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Clara Gail Bray and brother, Malcolm Bray. She is survived by brother, Philip (Helen) Bray; and nieces and nephews, Alice Drexler, Phyllis Lay, Gregory Bray, Vincent Bray, Lesley Lauterschlager and Laura Prescott.
Friends and family will gather for visitation on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. A memorial service with be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Robin Run Chapel, 5354 W 62nd St.
