In loving memory of

Roger M Hyska
July 17, 1938 - June 30, 2016

Roger Hyska passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the age of 77 after a brief illness, with his brother Bob by his side at home.
Roger was born on July 17, 1938 in Green Bay to Evelyn (Heim) Hyska and Michael Hyska. He was the third oldest of six boys and they were all born at home. He was a lifelong resident of Green Bay and enjoyed many years up at his cottage. Along with his brothers, Roger truly enjoyed his mother's homemade T-Biscuits, Bread, Coffee Cakes, Current Jelly, Jams, Baked Beans, Cheese Torte, Rump Roast and especially her Donuts. She was a fabulous cook. She also made several Christmas Tree decorations for them.
Roger attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from West High School in 1956. After high school, he worked at Northern Paper Mill until he was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country for two years from 1961 thru 1963 and then was honorably discharged and was a Sergeant at that time. After service, Roger went back to Northern Paper Mill, later known as James River Corp. and then Georgia Pacific. Roger had worked his way up to supervisor in the plant and was very proud of working for them for 47 years. In his lifetime, Roger had two employers he so loved, the United States Army and Georgia Pacific.
He was a very kind, caring, humble and generous person. Roger was very giving and always helped people out with whatever their need was.
Through the years, Roger liked to fish and hunt up at his cottage and he liked to play cribbage. He was a Packer and Brewer fan and truly enjoyed his TV. Roger's love of books was very evident in his life and there was always his favorite Western novel present.
On August 14, 1982 Roger married Sandra (Gross) Terrien and together, they enjoyed going up to the cottage in the High Falls Flowage area for many years. Sandi preceded Roger in death on January 24, 2010. Roger and Sandi had a little dog named Lacy and they both loved her very much. Roger missed Lacy deeply.
Many times through the years, Roger's brothers and their wives got together for a "Brothers Weekend" and played Sequence and Domino's on the porch of Roger's cottage. Let it be known that the wives out beat the brothers many, many times! Our last meeting for the Brothers Weekend was on January 18, 2014. We had lunch at Julie's Café and then a potluck and playing Sequence at the Woodside Assisted Living Library.
Roger was always asking about his nieces and nephews and their families. He was interested in all of the functions they were involved in; be it Football, Tennis, Hockey, Dancing, Volleyball, Snowmobile Racing, Singing Concerts, Softball, Track, Soccer, their grades in school or whatever activities that were going on in their lives. Roger was really into what was going on in the World today through the newspaper and of course, his TV.
Preceding Roger in death are his wife, Sandi; his parents, Evelyn and Mike; brother, Ronald "Ronny"; step-dad, Arnold "Nick" Sasman; nephew, Rick Hyska, and many aunts and uncles.
Roger is survived by and will be sadly missed by his four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" and Mariann Hyska, Donald "Donny" and Sarah Hyska, Francis "Fran" and Susan "Sue" Hyska and Robert "Bob" and Judi Hyska; his nieces and nephews, Dan (Sharon) Hyska, David (Mary) Hyska, Dale (Julie) Hyska, Tom Hyska, Cherrie Hagerty, Gary Hyska, Debbie (Dan) Zanzie, Stephen (Susan) Hyska, Jennifer (Steven) Neill, Jason (Bridget) Hyska, Bryan (Melissa) Hyska, Bethani (Adam) Thibodeau and their families; his aunt, Alice (Whitney) Danielski; his uncle, Leo Heim; as well as family, friends and neighbors at home and up at the cottage.
Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of Roger's life on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, WI 54304. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Tim Shillcox officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

In lieu of floral tributes, a memorial fund has been established in Roger's name.
Roger's brothers, especially Bob, would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Lee and the Bellin Hospital fourth floor nursing staff, Dr. Kaufman, Dr. Degen, Dr. McManus, the nurses at Bellin's Room 401, the caring people at Unity Hospice, especially Kathy and Ashley, the wonderful nurses and staff at Woodside Manor III, too many "special" people to mention, and Fr. Tim Shillcox for his caring ways and spiritual guidance he gave to the Hyska family so many times. We would also like to thank those who have helped Roger through the years and his brothers especially thank their brother Bob. All of your care, concerns and support for Roger and his family will always be remembered and deeply appreciated. May God bless you all.
