In loving memory of

Richard Wayne Wood
January 17, 1948 - March 13, 2012

Born in Seattle, WA on 1/17/48. He passed away in his sleep the morning of 3/13/12 while visiting loving, lifelong friends Richard & Brenda Vaught of Placerville, CA. Dick and his wife Cathy had just embarked on what now was his final Open Road trip. He served his country in the US Army's 101st Airborne Division from '68-'71, receiving a Bronze Star for his service in the Vietnam War. He attended the UW where he received his BA in Psychology. He began his career in Real Estate 33 years ago with Advance Properties eventually becoming the company's general manager. In 1986, he joined Windermere Real Estate and opened their 2nd Snohomish County office in 1987. After 22 years of successful leadership, Dick with great pride sold his company to his children and retired with his wife Cathy. Most recently he and his wife took permanent residence at their ranch property overlooking Lake Chelan. Retirement gave him more time to enjoy the things he loved like reading, golfing, putzing around in his vineyard, going to movies, watching the latest sporting event and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Wood, father-in-law, William Philips and half-sister Stacy Heser. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cathy, daughter Lena Maul (Aaron), son Elliott Wood (Angela), brother Tom Wood (Irene), mother Virginia Heser, step-mother Joyce Marge Wood, 6 half-sisters Patty, Kim, Kathy & Donna Heser, and Susan Nygren (Jamie), Vanessa Walker (Kerry), brother-in-law Gordon Philips (Trish), 2 nieces & 2 nephews, and 5 grandchildren Ellison, Ezra, & Avila Maul, and Alexis & Andy Wood. He is loved by many and will be forever missed

"Dear Cathy, Lena, Elliott and family...I am sorry and saddened to hear of Dick's passing. Losing a husband, father and grandfather is never easy. Dick was a wonderful man and I always admired his business ethics and his great personality. In fact, it was his honesty, integrity and business style that brought me to Windermere back in 1997. The long term success of the office and the core of long term real estate agents speak loudly to his professional - yet personable- manner of managing. I lost my Dad 3 years ago and while you never quit missing them, cherish the memories! He will be in your hearts forever! God Bless you all as you journey through the moments of honoring him and as you continue to honor him by the way you live your lives! Sincerely and with great sympathy...Bev"
