Tributes

My mother, Emma was a cousin to Emil. wrote on Apr 14, 2010:

"Dear family of "Elli". My sincere sympathy on the loss of your loved one. I remember the times that our family visited your family farm by Martinsburg. The family reunions and the family gatherings at my Grandfather Less's farm by Ponca were fun events of my childhood. I remember the times that Ted Unrau would play his accordion and some of the relatives would try to sing in German. Your mother was a fun part of the "party". Apparently, since we lived in Winside when you mother came to the US, my mother had a part in helping Elli go to Martinsburg. She lived a long life. I hope her last years were comfortable for her. The photo of Elli and the granddaughter is very good. I can see a "likeness" of the Ellie I remember. I do wish I could see you all. I will try and send some pictures that I have of both Elli and Emil that were in my parents "stuff". Please send addresses of the three of you. God's Blessings & love to all of you. Norma & Sid Fix"

"Dear family of Elli, You have our sincere sympathy in the loss of your dear loved one. We have many good memories of Elli. She enjoyed the rhubarb I would deliver to her while she still lived in her Sioux City apt so she could make her famous cake. She loved making it and giving it away. I cherish a crystal bowl she gave me to always remember her and a "Welcome" sign that we still use above our door. She was always so easy to visit and we enjoyed her so much. Blest be her memory. "
