Tom passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 12, 2003. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia, of 68 years; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Penny Marshall of Redmond, Washington; George and Alice Marshall of Mercer Island, Washington; his loving granddaughter Nicole; sisters-in-law Anne Mihelich of Newberg, Oregon and Gail Mihelich of Denver, Colorado. Tom was born in Livingston, Montana, January 11, 1909, the son of Yugoslavian immigrants Tom Marshall and Mary Ferkovich, and had one brother and three sisters. The family moved to Butte, Montana in 1915 where Tom attended Butte Grade School and Butte Business College. He started work as a Clerk for the Continental Oil Co. Conoco at age 15, and married Cecilia in 1935. Tom interrupted his career to join the Army in 1942. He proudly served our country with the 12th Armored Division in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1945. Tom returned to Conoco, was transferred to Billings, Montana in 1959, and retired at age 65, with a 50-year service pin, an employment record that stands to this day. His singular passion in life was golf, which he played almost daily in Billings for over 20 years. His family has lost a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Tom?s laughter, smile, and loving touch will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 2210 Colton Blvd., Billings, Montana, 59102.
At Cecilia?s request, a Committal Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Evergreen-Washelli Columbarium, 11220 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, Washington.

"Tom was serious about his job, yet he always took time for a laugh. Corky and Tom had a very strong relationship at Conoco based on mutual respect -- probably because they were both from Butte! We will remember Tom's twinkling eyes and quick giggle, especially on the dance floor. Corky & Betty Christman"
"Dear Ceil and family, On behalf of my mother, Isabel, and myself, we wish to extend our deepest condolences at the loss of a very old and dear friend. Mother was remembering so fondly today all of your visits and especially how kind and gentle Tom was towards Rosann. She considered you both to be two very special people in her life and is feeling this loss deeply. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. All our love, Isabel and Rita."
"We only know Tom for 27 years; but in that time we found him to be a gentle, loving and caring husband, father and father-in-law. One of our favorite memories is of Christmastime when Otto & I would go to Gary & Penny's for a "pre-Christmas" dinner and I would bring divinity for Gary my brother-in-law and Tom would try to get at it before Gary could. Rest in Peace, Tom Judy & Otto Hafenscher Penny's sister"
