Ms. Betty Jean Kirgan, 76, of Burlington died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Burlington Care Center.
Born February 8, 1940 in Houghton, she was the daughter of Clarence Andrew and Anna Marie (Brown) Calhoun.
Ms. Kirgan was a 1958 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She worked in production at Federal Mogul for 15 years, retiring in 1983.
Ms. Kirgan loved cats and shopping and collected dolls.
Survivors include two sons, Kenny Lyons of Des Moines and Travis Kirgan of Milo; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Marge Titus and Kathryn Anderson both of Burlington and Patricia Stansbury of Union; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private family services will be held for Ms. Kirgan.
A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
