Robert W. "Bob" Demrow, 83, of Lake Mills, formerly of Sun Prairie passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at home with family by his side.
He was born March 16, 1933, on the Pierce family farm near Evansville, the son of Robert W. and Myrtle (Pierce) Demrow.
He was a 1951 graduate of Janesville High School. While attending Green County Teachers College in Monroe, he was drafted and spent two years in the Army. After finishing college, he enjoyed 34 years as a teacher or principal in elementary schools in Janesville, Orfordville, Muskego, Lake Geneva, Middleton, and Sun Prairie.
Bob married Sue Haessig on June 29, 1968 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.
Bob was an active member of Four Lakes Principals Association, Wisconsin Retired Educators Association, Sun Prairie Band Boosters- serving as chaperone on band trips and president for a year, Sertoma in Middleton, and Knights of Columbus in Sun Prairie. He chaired the Sun Prairie Relay for Life for several years. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, dancing, traveling, reading, time with family- especially grandchildren, and winters in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Lake Mills; their son, Ross of Lake Mills; their daughter Heather (Bart) Banks of Colorado; 6 grandchildren, Jacob Demrow, Gage Christ, Ryan Demrow, Josh Demrow, Henry Banks, Oscar Banks, and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Demrow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie, on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 11:00 am with Monsignor Donn Heiar presiding and Monsignor Terrence Connors, as concelebrant. The visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie and from 10:00 am until the time of mass at the church.
