Marcia K. Volkmer, 68, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Carney officiating. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Marcia is survived by her companion, Jerry Vought of Fort Dodge; son, Tim Wiese of Eagle Grove; daughter, Tina Eldal and her husband Reed of Moorland; step-son, Roger (Amy) Porter Jr. of Fort Dodge; step-daughter, Stephanie (Jake) Porter-Wilhelm of Storm Lake; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Guthrie of Moorland; Phillip Wiese of Oregon, and Jordan Andressen of Sioux City; step-brother, Stephen Mason of Santé fe, New Mexico; and step-sister, Kelly Baker of Jacksonville, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and June Carpenter; step-mother, Vivian Carpenter; husband, Roger Porter Sr.; brother, Kenneth Carpenter; and granddaughter, Jessica Guthrie; also, her husband, Gene Volkmer.
Marcia Kay Carpenter was born April 18, 1948 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Saint Edmond High School. Marcia was a hairdresser for many years before going to work at Hormel's, where she worked until its closing. She then returned to school and received her Nursing Degree from ICCC. Marcia worked at the Berryhill Mental Health Center for several years. She then assisted teachers as a paraeducator in the special education program. In 2000, Marcia met Jerry and the couple has been together since. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially in the summer time in Spirit Lake. Marcia was an amazing cook, avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, longtime member of MAGWED and of the Moose Lodge.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

"Dear Marcia, We were school friends at Corpus Christi. You were the one who fell over the banister, falling to the floor below and breaking your arm. I spent sleep-overs, getting to know your little brother and mom & dad. Sonny & I are so sad at your passing. Some friends you never forget, and you are one of them. RIP "
