Frank John Lenartowicz
Jan 6, 1920 June 20, 2015 in Port Charlotte, Fl. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Tania Lenartowicz (Homikov) in 2012 and his sister Anna Hammen. Frank is survived by his brother Joe Lennard (Betty), his daughter Susan Hughes (Michael) and son Carl (Denise). Loving grandfather to five grandchildren (Craig and Erica Hughes and Shannon, Sarah and Katie Lenartowicz),5 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Franks' love of his family was only second to his love of his country. He served as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, Company C 774th tank battalion, WWII in the battle of Normandy, Germany and Central Europe where he earned a Purple Heart; 4 Bronze Stars Medal, Distinguished Unit Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was born in Rembrandt, Canada to John and Rose (Stelnicki) Lenartowicz and moved with his family to Hamtramck, MI at 2 years old. It wasn't until the late 1990's he realized he didn't have citizenship papers declaring him a U.S. citizen. At 80 years old he set out to officially become an American Citizen. In 2012 he moved to P.C. Florida with his wife Tania, son Carl and daughter-in-law Denise.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery with Military Honors, 9810 State Road 72. Sarasota, Florida 34241
