Charles Douglas Robson, my husband, our dad, our papaw, our friend, passed from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, in Englewood, Fla. Doug was 82 years young, a resident of Englewood, formerly of Corydon, Ind.
Doug was born in New Albany, Ind., the only child of Thomas D. and Georgia Wise Robson, and raised in Corydon, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Fleshman, on Feb. 20, 1950. Doug and Betty operated Betty's family apple orchard in New Amsterdam, Ind., until 1956, when they moved to Corydon and Doug went to work with his father operating West Side Garage. Doug also drove a school bus for the Corydon schools for more than 30 years. He and Betty retired by 1994 and began spending their winters in Florida. Now, more than 15 years later, they lived the majority of the year in Englewood, where Doug pursued his favorite pastime, golf.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two children, Cindy Marcus (Joe) and Douglas Robson (Kathy), and two grandchildren, Zachary and Kathryn Robson.
