Jack Edwin Murray

Jack Edwin Murray, 83, born in Thornton, KY., resident of Rotonda West, FL, passed peacefully at his home January 18, 2009.
Edwin was a 20 year Navy Veteran who served 2 years in the Pacific campaign.
After retiring to the Florida Keys from the Navy, he developed his talents in the successful grocery business Murray's Food Mart in Summerland Key, FL with his family for 26 years.
Edwin continued his talents by coaching the Junior Major League in Key West, FL.. There he celebrated many championships FOP and Southernmost Signs under his management and mentor of this team. He was an avid fisherman that respected the beauty of the Florida Keys.
Edwin was an active member in the Big Pine Key Lions Club 35A serving various office such as District Governor from 1990 until 1991.
Edwin was also a member of the VFW, American Legion and Moose Club in the Florida Keys.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian of Rotonda West, FL., four children: Gail Hayes Lonnie Big Pine Key, FL., Charlene Schulte Tom Port Charlotte, FL., Jack Murray Marie, Port Charlotte, FL. and Wayne Murray Doreen of Plantsville, CT., along with his sister Roberta DeNardi Bill of Louisville, KY.
Edwin also has 5 grandsons and 8 great-grandchildren.

"aunt lilly jack, wayne charlene. gail your dad was very special i can remember behind the store when i was little and i fell off the dock and into the water he came out and look at me and said what are you doing, and i said slipped and fell, of course your dad said horsing around again right but the way he said i had to laugh. but he wouldn't help me up he said you swim around and i did but don't come on the store all wet either. i have alot of fond memories of uncle eddie. i wish jerry could have met him. but now he is with jesus. and he will take care of him now. and he is taking care of us ."
