Charles "Burt" Wilcoxon, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL died March 5, 2009. He was born August 4, 1922 in Chester, PA and moved to this area in 1961 from Toms River, NJ. Burt worked for the US Postal Service for many years. He was a Postal Clerk in both Punta Gorda and Pt Charlotte before retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda and was a member of American Legion Post 110. He served in the US Navy and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elisabeth Wilcoxon of Punta Gorda. His sons, Michael Lisa Wilcoxon of Cape Coral, FL; Frederick Cheryl Wilcoxon of Brunswick, ME; Joseph Wilcoxon of Leesburg, FL and Arthur Johanna Wilcoxon of Lake Placid, FL; daughter, Willow-Rae Jenson of Castro Valley, CA; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Monday March 9, 2009 at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 401 W Henry Street, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 with Rev Vincent Scotto officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 33950.
