"Dear Cona, Steve and families, I worked for Lindsey at the North Summit weeklies in Cuyahoga Falls, Stow and Hudson, helping to turn them around from 1969 to '72. I met him again at the Charlotte papers, where he was a columnist. I loved his writing style, but above all his dedication to accuracy. I know he was angry with me for endorsing John Seiberling for the 14th Cong District in Ohio but he also defended Richard Nixon for to long. I thoroughly enjoyed his company and still have the copy of "Boldly Onward" he gave me. It is certainly a model for anyone who would call himself an historian to emulate. He was a wonderful man: understanding, humble at the right times, generous of spirit as well as of material, loyal, and he was as inspiring as he was talented. My encounters with him have been beneficial to me and I hope I have passed those influences on. They have added considerably to the enjoyment of my life. I am sure he has done even more for all his family and friends. Mankind is far better off for his 91 fruitful years on this earth. "

"To the Williams family, We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Williams. Even though we did not know him, personally, it is quite evident that he was a remarkable and accomplished man, who gave so much of himself to make this world a better place. We are blessed and grateful to call his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter our friends, and know that he must have been very proud of his family. What a wonderful legacy he leaves! You are in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Dian and Jim"
