"What a wonderful and warm synchro swim coach she was for our daughter, Lily years ago. Deb and family, we are truly sorry for your loss! "
MADISON
Leslie Garland Miller, 58, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, February 2, at Agrace HospiceCare in the presence of family. She was born in Brookfield on July 19, 1958 to Richard K. and Bette (Pedersen) Garland.
Leslie is survived by her husband Alan; son and daughter, Steven and Samantha; mother Bette; siblings Deb (Mike) Polster, Keith (Deanna) Wipperfurth and Alyson Schaefer; sister-in-law, Linda (Steve) Miller; brothers-in-law, Jim (Karen) Miller and David Miller; and many loving nieces and nephews as well as a very special aunt, Peggy Meissner. She was preceded in death by her father.
Leslie's journey through life was filled with many blessed memories with family, friends and time in nature. She had a curiosity for life that manifested through her years as a scientist, and also in the way she conversed with others; she always brought out the best in them. During her final years on this earth, Leslie studied energy healing and found a new realm of peace and love that she shared with each and every person's life she touched. Even in her final days, while battling cancer, she took time to ask others how they were doing, a characteristic that radiates what a special soul she had. Although Leslie is no longer with us on earth, her energy, light and love has been woven into each and every person who has been blessed to know her. Leslie will live on forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Leslie's Life, open house, will be held at her sister Debbie Polster's home, 9710 Hill Creek Dr., Verona, Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 2 until 6 p.m. We look forward to everyone stopping by to celebrate Leslie's life and all of the love she has shared with each and every one of us.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leslie may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or to the family Leslie's cremation services. We would like to thank the staff of Agrace for the devout attention to Leslie and the warmth and love you brought to her home when she was in need.
Please share your memories of Leslie.

"With deep sorrow, I send my sincere condolences to Leslie's family, who I know she loved dearly. Though I lost touch with Leslie over the last couple years, I feel very blessed to have known her and worked with her during our time together at Takara/Clontech. She brought many smiles and much love to my life. She will be deeply missed. (Laurie Sullivan)"
"Fred and I are on vacation and won't be there to go to Deb's. I have so many good memories of her from our Ridgewood days. God evidently wanted the very best. Betty and famiy, our thoughts and prayers are with you. (Marilyn and Fred Kinney)"
"Alan and children, I didn't know Leslie personally, but from the posts and stories of her she was an amazing person. My prayers to you and yours in these difficult days ahead. "
"Leslie is a symbol of light and love, and I'm so blessed to have had so many "deep" discussions with her the past couple of years. She is a healer in many ways and taught me many lessons about living and life. I know she is still sending us much love and healing from her new realm."
"I remember many good times at swim practice, meets, and the flooded road in front of the Garland house. Leslie was positive, always kind. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you."
"So sorry to hear of Leslie's passing. We have fond memories of the entire Garland family from Ridgewood days, back in the '70's. Thoughts and prayers to you all. Andy and Nancy Miller"
"Thank you, dear friend for being a light to the world, a woman I want to model myself after and a forever angel on my shoulder. Love, Gibber"
"To the Garland Family: We have never seen sisters so close and loving as Deb, Alyson, and Leslie. We enjoyed socializing with them through the years. Leslie will never leave your heart. May you remember all of the good times and think of her often. "
"I will miss your smile, laugh and words of encouragement. "
"Dearest Leslie - I speak to you directly, because I know you will never really leave us. I will forever treasure the memories of our six years of being roommates "back in the day". We had so many wonderful times on both N. Whitney Way and Ski Ct. (yes - we survived the "hood" together, didn't we?). I was almost an honorary Garland sister during those years. ???'????'?? You were always there for me, through good times and bad. I know your indomitable spirit will be with us forever and I look forward to celebrating your life with the many others who loved you next weekend. Save a seat for me - I'll see you again! I LOVE YOU LESLIE! ??'"??'?"
"Alan, So sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers."
"Had the pleasure of working for Leslie at OM in the late 80's. She was liked by everyone and genuinely cared about her work crew. Very sorry to hear this sad news."
"To all the Millers, and Bette, Deb, Keith, Al and families: Your natural Garland & Miller forces of love & light have been truly brilliant as you circled Leslie during her illness and now while imagining her new realm. This includes your legendary bursts of laughter, always proper and lighthearted. Peace, Julie Huiras Mascitti and Jason Mascitti Evan and Marco, too"
"Had many good times with Leslie - spending summers at the Ridgewood pool and making donuts runs on weekend night in HS to the donut factory. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!"
"Sister Leslie will forever be tucked in close to my heart. I am so blessed to have had a sister like you. Family strong always...you fought so hard. You touched so many people's lives and will continue to do so. I love you...until we see each other again..."
