Richard "Dick" Domke, 83 of Altura, died March 3, 2017 at Winona Health.

Dick was born January 5, 1934 in Kalmar Twp, Olmsted County to George and Lillian (Lehmann) Domke. On July 23, 1960, he married Darlene Priebe in Lake City, MN. Dick worked construction in Rochester at the "Mother House" as he called it, also known as Assisi Heights and at St. Mary's Hospital. He worked for Len Greden, hauling peas and turkeys. From 1957 to 1973, he worked at Oak Ridge Sales & Service with Chuck Schell. In 1973, Dick started Domke Excavating, which is now in its third generation. He was active in the business until his car accident in 1982, which slowed him down. After he recuperated, he got back on the equipment and remained active until a few years ago.

Dick was very mechanically inclined and was always working on something.

Dick is survived by his wife, Darlene; three sons, Rick (Becky) Domke and their children: Jennifer (Donny) Skappel and their children, Talynn & Addison, Ben (Greta) Verthein and their children, Kylie, Tyler & Trysten, Casey (Heather Bartsh) and her son, Braxton, Dusty & Kelsey; Tim Domke and Jay Domke and his son, Evan; brothers and sisters, Lyle of Lake City, Ruth Holm of Red Wing, and Melvin (LaVonne) of Hammond; sister-in-law, Grace Skelly of Byron.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenny; brother-in-law, Walt Holm and sister-in-law, Kate Domke.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at Jehovah Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann and Pastor Roger Vomhof officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday at the church and one hour prior to the service. Interment Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery - Altura.
