A celebration of life service will take place at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. There will also be a service at Foust Funeral Home in Dunlap, Iowa on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. and visitation will take place two hours prior to the service at the Fouts Funeral Home.
Brenda Anne (Seufert) Steffens, the daughter of William Joseph and Marie Elizabeth (Keuter) Seufert was born September 24, 1960 in Creston, Iowa. She attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School before attending Denison Community High School. Brenda left high school in September of her senior year to marry Jimmie David Steffens on October 7, 1979. She continued her studies and received her GED before her classmates graduated!
After moving to the area, Brenda worked in licensure at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg, and Kathleen's Residential Care Center. She was working at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg as a dietary aide at the time of her illness.
Brenda enjoyed going to casino's, gambling, shopping for every deal she could find and using all of her coupons. She loved the smell of lilacs, the sweetness of chocolate and more than anything being with her family and going to all of their activities while they were growing up.
On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Brenda passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital with her son Jimmie at her side.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Samara Marie Steffens of Des Moines, Francine Ruth Steffens of Emmetsburg, John David Steffens of Mallard, Billie Jo Steffens of Whittemore, and Jimmie David Steffens of Emmetsburg; her mother, Marie Elizabeth Adkins of Woodbine,IA; grandsons: Chance Steffens and Micah and Bronson Steffens; her brother, Clayton of North Charleston, SC; her sisters: Lorri Seufert of Hudson, FL, Jill Simons of Dow City, IA, and Monica Wilson of Greenfield, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Seufert.
