Virginia L Quam
January 1, 1922 - March 14, 2017

McFarland / Stoughton - Virginia L. Quam, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at The Odd Fellows Nursing Home in Green Bay.

She was born on January 1, 1922, in Cambridge, WI, the daughter of Carl and Lydia Reierson. She graduated from Stoughton High School and married Norman Quam. They were lifelong members of McFarland Lutheran Church.
Virginia and Norman farmed in Pleasant Springs Township for over 50 years. They also worked at Sunnyside (Springers) restaurant for many years. They later owned and operated the Riverside Inn supper club, in Milford, WI. Throughout their years of restaurant work, they formed many lifelong friendships.

Virginia and Norman shared their home and family life with over 100 foster children, this being one of their greatest accomplishments. Many of the children kept in touch in their adult years.

She was a loving wife, mother, foster mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and an incredibly hard worker.

Virginia is survived by her sons Mark (Margaret) and Michael (Jenni); daughter, Penny Anderson; grandchildren, Kirsten Quam, Amanda (McClain) Kittleson, Jacob (Stephanie) Quam, Matt (Courtney) Quam; great grandchildren, Abbigail and Zachary Kittleson. Sister, Berniece (Gunder) Rein and sister-in-law Marcia Reierson. She is also survived by special daughters, May (Lawrence) Eberhard and Sue (Hank) Zane. Also special "niece" Marianne (John) McAlpin. Special grandchildren Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Christina Eberhard and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, infant son Rodney, grandson Casey Anderson, brother Carl Reierson Jr., sisters Geraldine (Einar) Olson, Kathryn (George) Stenjem, Marion Johnson, and the second love of her life, Fred Fankhauser.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Rd, McFarland, with Rev. Timothy Dean presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and child at Upper McFarland Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon following the burial in the Church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to McFarland Lutheran Church.
