Leonard Rambo
September 21, 1925 - March 15, 2017

Leonard L. "Billy" Rambo, of Wittenberg, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King. He was 91 years old. He was born on September 21, 1925 in Shawano, a son of the late William and Rose (Vieau) Rambo. He married Evelyn Noffke on August 20, 1949 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Mr. Rambo was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corps from February 14, 1946 to September 3, 1947. Having served in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Rambo worked in Milwaukee at Briggs and Straton before becoming a licensed butter maker for Consolidated Badger later known as Morning Glory. He owned Hillcrest Motel in Wittenberg for 16 years. In 1991 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona returning to Wisconsin in 2005.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wittenberg.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 67 year, Evelyn; two daughters, Sharon Rambo of Gresham and Donna Hanke of Birnamwood; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Rambo and David Rambo; six sisters, Dorothy Koeller, Margie Weeks, Lorranie Kriescher, Geraldine Smits, Marcella Wegner and Patricia Hagen; a brother, Lester Rambo.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg with Reverend Michael Larson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
