Virgie Lovetta Laughlin

Virgie Lovetta Laughlin, 82, of Davenport, formerly of New London, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Home, Davenport. She was born November 1, 1934 in Stahl, MO, to David Anderson and Lillie Ann Akers Sizemore.
She married Bernard Randolph McDonald in 1952 in Green City, Missouri. He died in 1983. On July 25, 1987, she married Maurice Laughlin in Danville. He died August 3, 2007.
Mrs. Laughlin graduated from high school in Novinger, Missouri in 1952. She was a production/factory worker at Metromail and Alaniz. She was a member of New London Christian Church for more than forty years. Favorite pastimes include birdwatching and gardening, and she had a great love for reading.
She is survived by one daughter, Berna Kay Ramza (Richard) of Davenport; two granddaughters, Sheri K. (Brandon) Bachman of Trenton and Sara A. (Jeff) Burke of Davenport; one grandson, Shawn P. Reeder of Davenport; and five great grandchildren, Mathew Reeder Willson, Lane Bachman, Levi Bachman, Emilene Burke and Jolene Burke. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, four brothers and two sisters.
The funeral service for Virgie Laughlin will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 20, 2017 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Rod Cooper will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with the family present to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery of Henry County. A memorial has been established for Good Samaritan Society, Davenport, Iowa.
