Markley Victor Ennen was born May 15, 1931 to John J. and Katie (Dohlman) Ennen in Kossuth County, IA and departed from this world on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the KRHC, Algona, IA, after a full life of 84 years 7 months and 20 days.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday at the Buffalo Center United Methodist Church with Pastor Deb Devine officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center.
Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church.
At the age of 4 he moved to the Ennen family farm with his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He graduated from Buffalo Center School with the class of 1948. On July 1, 1951, he married Jeanette Steffensen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Their union was blessed with 5 children, Debra (Bruce) Venteicher, Pauline, Diane (Gene) Wempen, Randy, and Ronny.
He spent his life engaged in farming including raising hogs, Hy-Line chicks, cattle, sheep as well as crops. In addition during his early years, he was an active member of the Farmer’s Night School, and served on the board of directors of the Timely Mission Nursing Home, Farmers Cooperative Elevator, and United Methodist Church, as well as serving on the Extension Council and as a Buffalo Township Trustee. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, having transferred his membership in 1952 from the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center.
He enjoyed a lifetime of farming, traveling with his wife, delivering motorhomes, fishing, spending time with friends and neighbors as well as attending family reunions.
Left to cherish his memory include Jeanette, his wife of 64 and a half years, Deb (Bruce) Venteicher, Diane (Gene) Wempen, Dr. Randy (Josline) Ennen, Ronny (Debra) Ennen; grandchildren Brett (Rachel) Venteicher, Chris (Tara) Blomster, Scott (Gina) Venteicher, Jennifer (Pete) Burns, Mara (Michael) Walstead, Chad (Jennifer) Wempen, Derek (Stacy) Wempen, Tiera Wagnon-Ennen, Benjamin (Angela) Ennen, Thaddeus (Stephanie) Ennen, and Jeremiah Ennen; great grandchildren Lainey, Gabby, Caleb, Jenna Venteicher, Sean Blomster, Gwendalyn, Simon, Roscoe Venteicher, Jessa Walstead, Tyler, Ethan, Andrew Wempen, Reegen, Tayla, Jerzie Wempen, and Katie Ennen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister and infant daughter Pauline.
