David L. Harrison
January 18, 1932 - March 22, 2017

David L. Harrison, 85 of Keokuk died early Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in his home.

David was born in Keokuk, Iowa on January 18, 1932, the son of Edward and Helen Cady Harrison. He was married to Emma Real on August 24, 1963 in Carthage, Illinois. She survives.

David was employed by 7up, Walters Roofing, Holland Trucking, Vermillion Brothers and Vrandenburgs Trucking. He was an Army Veteran of Korean War receiving the Purple Heart just recently due to the effort of some very good friends.

David was blessed with large extended family that he was very thankful for. He enjoyed watching sports, meeting friends at McDonalds, driving around town counting deer, and watching westerns and war movies. And when he was able he enjoyed taking his kids and grandkids fishing. In his younger years he rode motor cycles and like to motocross. He also enjoyed stock car racing.

David is survived by his wife Emma Harrison of Keokuk, Iowa; eight children: MaryEllen (Ray) Groves of Keokuk, Iowa; David Harrison of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Tony (LuAnn) Murphy of Osage, Iowa; Sydney Garcia of Keokuk, Iowa; Cathy (John) Morris of Keokuk, Iowa; Vickie (Ray) Gilbert of Wayland, Missouri; Amy Harrison of Keokuk, Iowa and Becky (Shawn) Crowell of Medill, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; sister Mary (Delbert) Real of Keokuk, Iowa; brother-in-law Bob (Karen) Real of Keokuk, Iowa; sister-in-law Jeanette Butler of Keokuk, Iowa, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Junior Lewis, two sisters: Maxine Lentz and Rebecca Harrison; two brothers: Jim and Pete Harrison, two brothers in infancy and a son-in-law Al Garcia.

Visitation will be after 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at DeJong - Greaves at 917 Blondeau Street with family meeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. A Celebration of his life will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM at DeJong - Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street with Rev. Kevin Hardcastle officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Keokuk National Cemetery.
