Kandis Kay Howell
June 9, 1954 - April 5, 2017

Kandis Howell, 62, of Dows, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg, with Pastor Ron Lotz officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Kandis Kay Haggard, the daughter of David and Marlys Stafford Haggard was born June 9, 1954 in Webster City. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1973. Kandis married Laurence Howell on March 9, 2001 in Elk Pointe, SD. Over the years she worked at various nursing homes in the area including, Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Southfield Wellness and Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Webster City, as well as nursing homes in Hampton and Dows.

Kandis is survived by her husband, Laurence of Dows; daughters, Kim Day of Chariton, Jessica Anderson of Webster City, Angela (Chad) Machain of Rutland, VT; grandchildren, Annelease Anderson, Katrina Day, Nikolai Day, Taylor Bernard, Kennedy Bernard and Lauren Pringle; great-grandchildren, Khloe Horton, Joshua Horton, Kaydance Anderson and three on the way; step-children, Rebecca (Simon) Gillion, Emma (Chris) Lowry, Felicity Howell and Nathaniel Howell, all of England; 10 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and brother, David (Lisa) Haggard of Webster City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lori Caquelin, Karen Anderson and Victoria Hanson.

She was a member of Missionary Alliance Church, where she was a part of the Ministry Team. Kandis belonged to the Lutheran and Presbyterian Quilting Guild, was President of the Dow's Women's VA and was Secretary of Dows Library Board. She enjoyed stamping, quilting, fishing, baking, gardening and camping. Kandis volunteered at Second Chances in Dows and loved helping people. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
