In loving memory of

Robert Edward Dimond
November 16, 1923 - April 6, 2017

Robert Edward 'Bob' Dimond

Robert 'Bob' Dimond passed away peacefully at home on April 6th, 2017 surrounded by family. Born, November 16th 1923 to Harry and Esther Dimond in Huntington, IN, he was the fifth of seven children.

Bob graduated from Huntington High school, and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, working on the development and implementation of radar in a classified capacity. Bob dearly loved his country and was proud of his service during this time.

In 1951 Bob graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and founded R.E. Dimond and Associates in 1977, where he worked 5 days a week until earlier this year. He was a member of the Indiana and the National Society of Professional Engineers, ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, and other professional organizations.

In 1950 Bob married the love of his life, Doris. They loved each other dearly to his dying day. Together they had five children, supported each other, laughed together, cried together, enjoyed a wide network of friends and family together, traveled the world and had a wonderful life.

Bob loved the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and tracing the Dimond genealogy back to the 1600's. But most of all he loved his family and was very proud all of his children and grandchildren. He believed the family unit is the backbone of society.

Bob was an active member of St. Luke Catholic Church since 1969 and was an usher for the past 32 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings and daughter, Carol Jean Dimond.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Jean (Stoffel) Dimond; children, Julie Dimond Apple (Greg), Daniel Dimond (Lynn), Ann Dimond Wrenne (Justin), Laura Kelley (Pat); and grandchildren, Adrienne Apple, Grace and Quinn Kelley, and Patrick, Will, and Lucy Dimond.

Calling will be Sunday, April 9th from 2pm-5pm at Leppert Mortuary at 740 E. 86th Street. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church Monday, April 10th at 11:30am.

While we will all miss our husband, father, uncle and grandfather we will move forward hearing his favorite saying in our heads, 'Keep Smiling'.

Memorial contributions can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor or the St. Vincent de Paul food bank.
