Roy M. Sapp
September 20, 1940 - April 12, 2017

Roy M. Sapp, 76, of Keokuk, passed away on April 12, 2017, at his home after a courageous battle with ALS.

Roy was born September 20, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of William and Ruth Marie Smith Sapp. He was united in marriage to Alice Petty on July 12, 1958, in Keokuk. She survives.

A lifelong resident of the Keokuk area, Roy was employed as a traffic and customer service manager at Midwest Carbide Corporation for thirty-seven years, until his retirement in 1997. He was an avid golfer, and could often be found playing rounds at Deer Run Golf Course in Hamilton. He loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and bowling, and spent twenty years wintering in Texas. Roy was also a member of the Swing Easy Dance Club and the Circle Square B Dance Club. He especially loved dancing with his wife, Alice.

Roy is survived by his wife Alice of Keokuk, his son Todd (Teresa) Sapp of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his daughters Kim (Mike) Steinkruger of Charles City, Iowa; and Dena (KJ) Cannon of Keokuk; his brother William A. (Ruth) Sapp of Ashland City, Tennessee; Grandchildren: Jessica (Joe) O'Neil; Matthew Sapp; Lori Cannon; Amber (Andy) Hall; Andrew Sapp, Emily Terry, David Steinkruger, and Jonathan Steinkruger; and great-grandchildren: Daniel Sapp, Tyler Durham, Derick Peltz, Hayden Sapp, Jason Sapp, Grace and Molly O'Neil; Tres Cannon; Heidi Cannon-Spring, and Brayden and Jackson Hall. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, and his step-father Ernest D. Curfman.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 917 Blondeau Street, with burial to follow at Sandusky Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 PM on Saturday directly before the service.
