In loving memory of

Daisy May Wing
October 30, 1929 - April 16, 2017

Daisy May (Hui) Wing passed away April 16, 2017 in Seattle, WA at the age of 87. She was born October 30, 1929 in Toisan, Guangdong Province, China; the second of three children. Daisy showed her strong, determined
personality by countering cultural norms and pursued her early education in China, then completed her GED after moving to the United States. In the traditional Chinese way, her father chose her future husband, Tom Y.
Wing, a recent WWII US military veteran who had returned to China. Love blossomed in the early days of their relationship, the two married in 1947, and they moved to Seattle. They started a family in 1950, first with Linda,
then Barney, and finally Kelvin to complete the family that Daisy and Tom put at the center of their lives. Daisy worked full time using the sewing skills that she taught herself as a child in China, and managed a full and busy
home life with three small children. She honed her skills over the years becoming a master of her craft and continued to create marvels with fabric throughout her life. Daisy and Tom enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Their family always came first and their children and grandchildren were a major source of pride and joy. Family gatherings always revolved around the food Daisy lovingly made by hand. Much of the food was prepared with vegetables and fruits from her own garden that she coaxed into bountiful productivity each year. She was at home in her kitchen and her garden, which she would proudly display, and then gladly share the fruits of her labor with any visitor. The struggles to survive after first moving to the States taught her to be kind, compassionate, and helpful to friends and family that she perceived to be in need.

Daisy and Tom built a strong family foundation. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved to see them having fun. Education was the highest priority, and she strongly encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue the higher education that she and Tom never had the chance to get. Retirement gave them more time to do what they loved; taking care of their grandkids, traveling the world on cruise ships, and dancing every chance they could. It would not be difficult to imagine them together now dancing to celebrate their reunion.

Daisy lived not only a long life, but a wide life filled with challenges, accomplishments, adventures, joys and sorrows, and love. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her three children, Linda, Barney (Ying) and Kelvin (Bettiann), and her five grandchildren, Jessica, Tyson, Sam, Emily, and Eric.

She gave us several tours of her garden which always impressed us. And we would chat regularly when we met at the store. We will miss her. "Dear Linda: so sorry in the loss of your Mom. Daisy was a very nice and caring person I never met anyone like her. The last time I saw her was March 24, 2017 she came to the store and bought a box of baby spinach she said she like salad and that she like to eat 1 tomatoe a day with it. I always enjoyed talking to her I known Daisy for over 33 years I will miss her and her friendly smiles. Take care, Anna Wong There's nothing that can compare to the loss of a parent but as long as our loved ones live on in our hearts and memories there is a part of them that never leaves us."
