Wanda (Long) Wienke
December 31, 1939 - April 18, 2017

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Wanda May Hoffert, daughter of Carl Andrew and Ella (Oskvig) Hoffert was born December 31, 1939 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She attended Emmetsburg Community Schools, and she was a 1958 graduate of Emmetsburg High School. On December 21, 1958, Wanda was united in marriage to Warren Long at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. He preceded her in death in 1998. On October 28, 2000, Wanda married Dennis Wienke at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Wanda was a licensed CNA, and worked at the Good Samaritan Home in Algona, Emmetsburg Care Center and Ruthven Care Center. She babysat for a few years, and she managed 4-Sons Convenience Store in Emmetsburg for several years. She retired from SNC Mfg. in Emmetsburg.

Wanda was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, racing and good old country music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

On Tuesday, April 18, Wanda passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Candyce Thompson (Mark) of Sioux Rapids, Bryan Long (Jean) of Emmetsburg, Jerene "Jake" Long of Spencer and Kevin Long (Jennifer) of Cylinder; three sisters: Coryina Pitcher (Bill) of Paso Robles, CA, Cacynthia Karickcoff (Jim) of Falls Church, VA, and Carol Kunz (Richard) of Papillion, NE; Brother, Ray Hoffert of Emmetsburg; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; brother, Delmer Hoffert and her granddaughter, Jill Long.
