Carolyn Jean Schmid
June 5, 1946 - April 19, 2017

Carolyn Jean Schmid, 70, of Keokuk, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Carolyn was born in Bloomfield, Iowa, on June 5, 1946, the daughter of Earl and Beulah Stockham Merryman. On December 8, 1998 she married Edward E. Schmid in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives. She had worked twenty-five years at Morse Rubber. Carolyn was centered around her family, cats and dogs.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Edward Schmid of Keokuk, Iowa; son Steven Blanford and companion Tina Schmidt of Nashua, Iowa; two step-daughters: Tammy Hudison of Hamilton, Iowa and Mitzi Kiger of Kahoka, Missouri; son-in-law Michael Shinn of Keokuk, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Stefani Blanford, Dylan Blanford, Alexandria Shinn, Michael John Shinn, Kassi Kiger, Kolt Kiger, Chistopher Hudson, Cennedy Hudson and R.J. Hudson; several great grandchildren and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and daughter Stacey Blanford.

A Celebration of her Life with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 917 Blondeau Street in Keokuk. Burial will be at a later date.

"In my high school days she was like another Mom to me. I lived with her, Stace and Steven for a couple weeks before graduation. She was an awesome sweet person. She loved her kids dearly. She will be missed and I will never forget the good fun times we had. So sorry Steven for your loss."
