In loving memory of

Dora Zermeno
May 9, 1949 - April 21, 2017

Weslaco- Weslaco- Dora Zermeno, 67, passed away on Friday, April 21st, 2017 at Amara Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dora was born on May 9th, 1949 in Weslaco, Texas to Marin and Dora Paz. She grew up in Weslaco where she attended school.

Most people will remember Dora from her many years at Clecker-Heald Elementary, where she was a teacher's assistant for over forty years. Dora had a strong work ethic and was an example to her peers. She rarely called in sick and took her job very seriously. She was a team player and a joy to work with.
Even when Dora was not working, she was helping others. Her hobbies included fundraisers of many kinds. Every year she would rally up a team for Relay for Life to support the American Cancer Society. She loved to help with Special Olympics, where she volunteered as a coach.
Dora enjoyed exercising and took daily walks. She also loved gardening and taking care of her plants. Her house was always immaculate because Dora loved to keep it perfectly clean.
Dora also enjoyed going to the movies and traveling, especially after she retired in 2011. She was also able to take several road trips with her daughter, Angie, before she was diagnosed with cancer. Dora was able to visit New York, Canada, Niagra Falls, Puerto Rico, Michigan, New Orleans, to name a few.
Of her greatest accomplishments, was raising her daughter, Angie, who she raised as a single mom and on a single income. Angie became a nurse because of her mom's hard work and determination. Angie was fortunate enough to repay her mom with loving care and comfort in her final years.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents, Marin and Dora Paz. She is survived by her only daughter, Angie, her sisters, Maria Angeles Paz Cantu, Alicia Aguirre and her brothers, Mario Paz, Francisco Paz, and Laurencio Paz.
Dora will always be remembered as a loving and giving soul, with a beautiful smile and a kind spirit.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24th, from 12-9pm, with a prayer service at 7pm at McCaleb Funeral Home.
