In loving memory of

Giovanna Milano
November 9, 1931 - April 25, 2017

WESLACO - Giovanna Milano, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Eternal rest, grant unto her O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her.

Mrs. Milano was born November 9, 1931 in Minturno, Italy to Mariano and Amalia Corrente. She grew up in Italy during World War II, surviving great famine and poverty. At the age of 28, she married, Lino Milano, a first-generation Italian-American, who resided in South Texas. She left behind her nine brothers and sisters, her parents, and her entire life in Italy to step into the land of the unknown, start her own family, and live out the "American Dream."

Mrs. Milano brought her Italian charm to South Texas, as her and Mr. Milano dedicated themselves to providing the best Italian food and service at Milano's Restaurant, which has served the Valley for over sixty years. Mrs. Milano's life was the epitome of sacrificial love as she placed others' needs before her own. Even at the age of 85, Mrs. Milano would wake up at 7am to prepare loaves of bread for her customers. Her generosity and hard-work ethic will continue to inspire many.

Mrs. Milano is survived by her children, Emil, Lisa, and Angela; grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Luciana, Gina, Julian, Giovanna, Lino Alessandro, and Josiah; and her great-grandchild, Stella Rose.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday April 26, 2017 from 4pm to 9pm with a 7pm Rosary at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco. A mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27, 2017, 10am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Pallbearers will be Ferruccio Corrente, Mario Iaboni, Michael Ramon, Daniel Ramon, Julian Ramon, Albert Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Josiah Hernandez and Lino Milano Ramon.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
