"Jamie Ames was a man of character, he stood strong for the love of his family and friends. Hardworking hands have been laid to rest, but a part of him will live on in 'each one of you.' I met Jamie at a time in my life where I just needed someone to listen, to laugh with, and to hold my hand, even if it was for a little while. Being at his house I felt at ease and was accepted for being 'myself.' I felt like a bird sometimes in flight, because I could just feel 'free' around him, and our talks and sharing a beer from his refrigerator were such treasured times. He always invited me by to see his beautifully lit Christmas tree, it was such a heartwarming feeling, even as I would drive by the house where he lived in West Point, I saw the tree shining brightly aglow through the window, and I would smile. Our lives intertwined for a reason, and when we talked about our families, his eyes 'lit up' and that handsome smile warmed his gentle face, as he spoke about his sons and daughter and grandchildren. It was a privelege to have met all of you, you have a family filled with abundant love. Jamie and I met on a New Years Day, and he brightened my year and as a tears well up in my eyes, I fondly remember the Garth Brooks song, "The Dance," it reminds me of the blessing that was bestowed upon me, to have had the 'chance' to know your loving dad.I know that we will meet again someday, in that place so far away, but for now when I look to the heavens on a starry night, there will be one more star shining ever so brightly, and it will be a reminder that Jamie lives on and will be keeping watch over "Us."
My regrets, for not being able to attend the services, but I was there with all of you in spirit, and you will be in my prayers, and hold a special place in my heart, always.

James (Jamie) Guy Ames, 59, of Montrose, Iowa, passed away on April 23, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Jamie was born August 7, 1957, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Percy F. and Mary Lou Hayden Ames. He was united in marriage to Vicki Gray and later they divorced. Jamie then married Barbara Lammering they divorced.
A lifelong resident of the Keokuk area, Jamie was employed in his early years as a glazier for Gate City Glass. He then spent several years working as a carpenter alongside his father. He spent 17 years as a supervisor at Federal Mogul Ignition Products in Burlington IA. He ended supervisor career at CNH (Case) Plant Burlington, IA. He ended his career as a production worker at Riley Paint Systems in West Burlington IA.
He was a member of Quail Forever, where he enjoyed being a youth mentor and guiding them on quail hunts and teaching them hunter safety. He was a baseball coach for Keokuk Little League, YMCA basketball and AAU basketball.
Jamie is survived by his father Percy F. Ames; three children: Jill (Bill) Seabold, Jake (fiancée Michelle) Ames and Mathew (Ashley) Ames; nine grandchildren: Ryan (Kelsey), Andrew and Jordan Seabold, Kayden and Logan Ames, Kenadi, Kali, Kamri and Traven Ames; two brothers: Milton (Patricia) Ames and Wesley (Tammy) Ames, nieces and nephews and his special hunting dog "Mack".
Jamie was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Ames; all grandparents, one sister Christine Marie Ames and one Brother Michael Shane Ames.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 3PM on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, with Rev. Tyrone Seay officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 PM directly before the service.
Memorials may be made to "Keokuk Animal Services" which is a No Kill Pet Shelter in Keokuk, Iowa.
