Donald D. Swanson
July 29, 1927 - April 25, 2017

Donald Dean Swanson, age 89 of Warsaw, Missouri and formerly of Colfax, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service. A memorial service will be held at the Warsaw Christian Church at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Benton County Hospice, Warsaw Christian Church or the Howard Street Christian Church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Earl and Sylvia (Richardson) Swanson, Don was born on July 29, 1927 in Boone County, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School in 1945. On December 26, 1947, he was united in marriage to Doris Irene Williams. Don proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked at Maytag in Newton for 43 years. Don was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax and later when he moved to Missouri, he became a member of the Warsaw Christian Church.
Those left to honor his memory include his three sons, David (Pam) Swanson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Don (Lin) Swanson of Walford, Iowa and Dan Swanson of Warsaw, Missouri; four grandchildren, Emilee (Toso) Chavez, Susanne (Tim) Beckmann, Mike Swanson and Leslie Galloway and six great grandchildren, Chase, Gage and T.J. Chavez; Jayden and Lydia Beckmann, and Kierra Galloway. Preceding Don in death were his parents; wife in 2011; a granddaughter, Thea Swanson; two sisters, Minnie and Marilyn and a brother, Fred.
