Kathryn E. Racine
September 15, 1932 - April 29, 2017

Kathryn Ellen (Myers) Racine, the daughter of John Thomas Myers and Hazel Viola Godwin Myers, was born on September 15, 1932 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa and passed away at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the age of 84.

Kathryn spent her early years in rural Farragut later in the Shenandoah area. She attended and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1950, where she was Homecoming Queen in 1949. After graduation she married Doyle L. Racine on October 8, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. They resided on a farm west of Shenandoah in Fremont County for two years before moving to Essex, Iowa. She worked part time for J.C. Penny Store in Shenandoah and for Central Surveys. She was a Rainbow Girl, a member of First United Methodist Church, Country Guild and the Essex Presbyterian Church.

She devoted time to her husband, family, home and the family farm operations. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising flowers, and especially loved, loved to sew. She made many beautiful items for her home, family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband Doyle Racine, her parents, and sister Marilyn Troxel.

Survivors include her children; Dennis Racine of Essex, Doug Racine and friend Laura Nelson of Essex and Denise Racine of Shenandoah. Six grandchildren; Johnathon Racine, Jesselyn Racine, Anthony Racine, Edie Madsen and husband Aaron, Kurtis Anderzhon and wife Lexi and Daniel Anderzhon, two great grandchildren; Eden Anderzhon and Natalie Madsen; other relatives and many friends.

Celebration of life funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa. The family will not be present during these hours.

Memorials are being established.

Burial will be held at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Iowa.
