Ernest J. "Ernie" Davidson, 52, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
A celebration of Ernest's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Faith Community Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Ernest Jeffery Davidson was born on July 28, 1964 in the Quad Cities to Ernest Roger and Becky Jill (Hawotte) Davidson. He was a graduate of Andrew Community High School and attended St. Ambrose University. He married Linda Rorah Mendel on January 15, 1999 in Andrew, Iowa.
Ernie had worked for his family at the Sand Prairie Quail Farm in Maquoketa for many years. He had also worked at Iowa Concrete Products in Maquoketa for several years, and from 2014 to 2017 for Devenish Nutrition in Maquoketa.
Ernie had attended Faith Community Church in Maquoketa. He enjoyed shooting guns, playing chess, fishing, cooking, and mushroom hunting.
Those left to honor Ernest's memory include his wife, Linda Davidson of Maquoketa, IA; children, Tanner Davidson of Ames, IA, Carrie Mendel of Lost Nation, IA, Hannah and Alexis; 1 grandchild, Paeton Miller; his father and step-mother, Ernest and Diane Davidson of Moline, IL; his mother and step-father, Becky and Dale Davidson of Maquoketa, IA; sisters, Julie (Rod) Blake of Grand Mound, IA, Rebecca Davidson of Bettendorf, IA, Jennifer Davidson (Dan) Devens, and Lana Justice of NM; brothers, Eric (Sara) Davidson of Davenport, IA, Joel (Erica Barker) Davidson of Maquoketa, IA, and Scott Davidson; and a special joy, Millie Jean. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, a son Joshua Mendel, and a nephew Mitch McConnell.

"Ernie and I went to school together. He was so fun to be around! he got me into acting for some school play's. we hung out at the pheasant farm some times,which was cool!!! I will always remember him as a sweet and kind man. Rest in peace!"
