Debora N. Andler, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. She was born November 19, 1952 in Hamilton, Ohio to James and Louise Northway. She was married to Craig Andler.
Debora graduated from Flint Central High School in 1971 and earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from The University of Michigan Flint. After moving from Flint, Michigan to Indianapolis, she later continued her education earning a Master's of Social Work degree from Indiana-Purdue University at Indianapolis. Debora then started her career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Her social work career began at Central State Hospital in Indianapolis working with adults with mental illness. She continued her career at Midtown Community Mental Health Center for nearly thirteen years. During this time she shifted her work from adults to children. It is with children where she found her niche and continued in private practice for twenty years.
From childhood through her adult life, Debora was an artist through and through. Creativity exuded from her. While many people do crafts, Deb made art. Family and friends cherished her handmade gifts, cards and cooking.
Debora was a loving and sacrificing wife and mother. Whether it was parasailing with Craig, waving to her fans on Sara's social media or learning show choir lyrics and choreography to be part of Counterparts for Sterling, Debora always went out of her way to experience the most of life and make sure her family and others did too.
Debora's steadfast love, support and smile will be missed by the many family and friends who felt her strong impact. She is survived by daughters: Sara Andler, Indianapolis; Sterling Andler, Indianapolis; mother Louise Northway, Indianapolis; brother Richard (Debbie) Northway, Indianapolis; sister Karen (Michael) Gallagher, Saginaw, Michigan; and countless family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Debora Andler to the "IU Foundation at IUPUI."
A visitation from 2:00-4:00 followed by a celebration of her life at 4:00 pm will be held on May 20, 2017 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 86th Street, Indianapolis. Visitors are asked to wear purple or other colorful attire. Finally, Debora wished, "Please do not speak of Trump and definitely don't invite him."
