Betty A. Shillington
June 10, 1934 - May 15, 2017

Betty Ann Shillington was born June 10, 1934, in Lakota, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Regina (Diers) Olson. She grew up and attended school in Lakota and graduated from the Lakota High School. After her schooling she provided daycare for some local families.

On January 2, 1954, Betty was united in marriage to Robert Shillington at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard. After their marriage they lived in Algona, where they began their family and raised their children. Betty later worked at Snap-On Tools in Algona for 23 years.

Betty's biggest love was her family and the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed canning pickles, making strawberry jam, playing bingo, visiting casinos, traveling to Branson, MO, and following the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Betty died Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society - Algona. She was 82.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert "Bob" Shillington of Algona; children, Douglas Shillington of Algona; David and Betty Shillington of Algona; Rebecca Shillington of Algona; Sandra and Don Von Bank of Algona; grandchildren, Amy, Amber, DJ, Brent, Ashten and Skylen; great-grandchildren, Austin, Lillee, Zoey, Kyra, Jayden and Weston; siblings, Donna Herbers of Oregon; Donnie (Kathy) Olson of Buffalo Center; John (Bev) Olson of Forest City; Vicky Parks of Manly and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Shillington; siblings, Bud, Eugene, Florence, Berniece, Agnes, Doris, Richard, Mary Lee and LaVonne.
