Eileen Virginia (Patch) Glanzman passed away May 15, 2017. She was born October 3, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska to Okley and Susan Virginia Vroman Patch.
Her mother died when Eileen was three years old and she lived with her maternal grandparents, Ezra and Betty Brooks Vroman on their farm near Moberly, Missouri until she was 13 years old.
Her father remarried in 1927 and Eileen and her brother Robert moved to Indianapolis to live with their father and stepmother Rosalie Dolzel Patch. She graduated from Howe High School. She married Jack Irving Glanzman who she met while both worked in a department store in downtown Indianapolis. They married in 1933 and had two sons, Jack, Jr. and Richard A. Glanzman.
Eileen was a stay-at-home mother until her sons were in high school when she began a career as a sales associate in the furniture business, working at Blocks Department Store and later Grahams of Glendale Furniture store and still later Ron Lucas Interiors of Carmel. She retired from Lucas Interiors in 1990.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband; son, Jack, Jr., as well as her parents and stepmother. She is survived by her son Richard Allen Glanzman.
She enjoyed her role as a homemaker and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for family and friends.
She was a charter member of the Isle of Pines Chapter of the International Travel Study Club and its last surviving member. As its final member she donated the clubs records to the Indiana Historical Society in 2006.
Services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Peace Chapel in the Community Mausoleum at Crown Hill Cemetery with calling beginning at 2:00 PM.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society. Special thanks go to Debra Farmer who gave her loving care at home for three years as well as the staff at Marquette Health Center where she spent the last eight months.
