"My earliest memories of LouJean go way back to when I was a little girl staying at their house. Their farm was adjacent to ours. Dad and Rod raised turkeys together and of course Mom and LouJean were back and forth all the time. Lou Jan was always there. She will be missed. So sorry I can't be there but know my thoughts and prayers are with you Rodney and your family. She was a great lady."

"When my daughter Sawyer and I moved in next door to LouJean and Rod, we were so blessed. Sawyer used to love coming over and sitting by the fishes in the pond with LouJean. We have such special memories with Rod and LouJean. We are thinking of Rod and the entire family at this difficult time. Sending prayers and condolences. "

"I used to love playing in that rock garden as a little girl! I thought it was so exotic and interesting. I also remember how beautiful and put together Lou Jean always was and how kind. Seeing her and Rod was always a pleasure. The last time I saw them was when they came to visit my mom, Renee, in the nursing home in Decorah a couple of years ago. Such sweet people. I'm thinking of Rod and the whole family and sending love from California."

"Looking forward to seeing Lou Jean was always a special treat for me because she always was wearing the trendiest outfits! I also remember her nails being perfect and wondered how she managed that. She was such a classy lady...and aunt. Lynee and I were flower girls at their wedding (we wore yellow dresses), and I have a vague recollection of singing a song with Lynee. This includes a memory of Lou Jean and Marilyn so it may have been at their dual wedding ceremony. All of these memories have been 'hidden' somewhere in my brain but immediately flooded to the surface when I heard of Lou Jean's passing...missing her positive spirit."

"I remember the story about making the rock garden in the back yard in Rushford. Somehow , LouJean convinced Rod they could drive out in the country and find rocks along the road. It would be easy! Not sure how many trips they made or how many pounds of rock Rod had to get to the backyard but it wasn't as easy as he was lead to believe! There are so many more stories to be told! She truly was a lady who knew what she wanted and had a very loving husband who would do anything for her. Missing her laughter and "how do" forever. Blessed be her memory. "
