Harley A. Ruesink, age 85 of Winona and formerly of Rollingstone, MN and Rochester, MN, died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona, MN.

Harley Arnold was born June 6, 1931 in York Township, Fillmore County, MN to Harold and Pearl (Gysbers) Ruesink.  He graduated from Wykoff High School, Wykoff, MN in 1949.  He entered the U.S. Army in June 1952 and attained a rank of Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge.  He was a 30-year member of the American Legion Leon J Wetzel Post 9.  He was very proud of working for Northwestern Bell, where he did various jobs.

He was previously married to Joan Bernice Eickhoff and they had two sons:  Terry and Steven.  On August 11, 1968, Harley married Marilyn (Johnson) Benson and she preceded him in death July 13, 2000. 

He is survived by his children:  Terry (Chris) Ruesink, Rochester, MN; Jess (Lynn) Benson, Albuquerque, NM; Matthew Benson, Rochester, MN; James (Jennifer) Benson, Winona, MN; and Julie Benson, Pine Island, MN; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters:  Lola (Mike) Nelson, Milwaukee, WI and Pat Dormandy, Alameda, CA; two brothers:  Ellis (Beverly) Ruesink, Harmony, MN and Percy (Sandy) Ruesink, Milwaukee, WI; a daughter-in-law Nancy Benson, Rochester, MN and a brother-in-law Vern Schneider, Austin, MN and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marilyn; son Steven Ruesink and a sister June Schneider.

Funeral services will 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Central Lutheran Church, Winona, MN with visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church and the military honors will be provided by the American Legion Leon J Wetzel Post 9.  Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, MN.
