Eleanor J. Griesel, age 89 of Winona, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living, Winona, MN.
Eleanor Jean was born January 6, 1928 in Winona to Lawrence and Gladys (Runnion) Doble. She graduated from Winona Senior High School. On January 4, 1945, she married Paul Griesel, Jr. in Decorah, IA and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2010.
She was a very active member of Grace Presbyterian Church, and a former board member of Treasure's Galore. Eleanor first worked as a clerk/bookkeeper for Togs and Toys. She then owned and operated Griesel's Grocery from 1965 to 1975. Then she was employed at Bob's Marine for 12 years and Midtown Foods for another 12 years, retiring in 1999.
She is survived by a daughter Jane (Ron) Dietrich, Winona; four grandchildren: Brittany Griesel, Thomas (Hailey) Griesel, Kalie Griesel and Jennifer (Derek) MacAskill; two great grandsons Matthew and Cole MacAskill; daughter-in-law Kathy Griesel; honorary daughter Mary (Jerry) Lowery and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Thomas and a brother Lawrence Doble.
Services for Eleanor will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Winona with Rev. Rachel Riggle officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church, 222 Broadway Street, East, Winona, MN 55987.
