Neva Mae Vorbeck

Neva M. Vorbeck, 92, of Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. She was born on July 20, 1924 in Winona to Andrew and Virginia (Moody) Hoover. Neva attended Jefferson Elementary as a child. She went to Winona High but had to drop out of school when her mother died.

She married Edward G. Vorbeck in Winona on June 6, 1942. They made their home in Lewiston, where they raised five children. Neva enjoyed her grandchildren. She was an avid crafter; knitting and sewing. Neva preferred to be outdoors, collecting flowers and taking walks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward (1982); son Eddie (1983); grandson Duke Johnson; great-grandchildren Adrian Moen, Aliyah Merchlewitz and Colton Schott; four siblings.

Neva is survived by her children Phyllis (Robert) Schott, of Lewiston, Carol Johnson, of Buffalo City, WI, Barbara (Frank) Merchlewitz, of Stockton, Jill Hoover, of St. Charles; 28 grandchildren; great-grandchildren;  great-great-grandchild; great-great-great-grandchild; brother Jerry Hoover, of Montana; many more nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewiston. Reverend Michael Lindemann and Reverend Paul Kuckhahn will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.  Services entrusted to Fawcett Junker Funeral Home, Winona, MN and Fountain City, WI.
