Rita J. Meihsner
October 28, 1935 - May 15, 2017

Rita Jane Meihsner of Middleton, Wi, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's, at Agrace Hospice Care, Madison. Rita was daughter of Claude and Laura Jackson, and was born October 28, 1935. She was united in marriage to Reinhold Meihsner in Independence, Wi on August 28, 1957. She grew up on a farm near Independence and graduated from Stout State University with a degree in Home Economics Education, where she met her husband Reinhold.

After living in Madison, they moved to a farmette near Belleville, Wi. Rita developed the Belleville Senior Citizen program, enjoyed working as a tour guide and planner, was Director of the Dane County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, and served on the Midvale Heights Council in Madison.

Rita is survived by her husband of 59 years, Reinhold. Also survived by her son Larry (Joan) Meihsner of Mequon, Wi., son Doug (Claudia) Craemer-Meihsner of Madison, Wi., and daughter Amy (Dale) Sanders of Hartland, Wi.

She was beloved Oma to grandchildren Nicole (Randy) Koplin, Justine (Dave) Carollo, Zacary Sanders, Samantha Sanders, Mathias Craemer-Meihsner, Greta Craemer-Meihsner, and great granddaughter, Zoe Koplin.

Rita's hobbies were playing cards and games, doing puzzles with family, playing the piano, tending her flower gardens (her favorite flower being the rose), and reading. Special memories were made on family vacations at Island View Lodge in Mercer, Wi, where the family gathered together for over 25 years.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 3pm until 5pm, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705, with a prayer service at 4:30 pm.Memorials may be made to RSVP of Dane County.
