MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ralph Earl Price, 90, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Premier Estates.

Private services will be held. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.


Ralph was born on March 25, 1927, in Muscatine, the son of Koehler U. and Nellie M. Dora Price. He married Beverly J. Blythe on December 19, 1948, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2004.

He was a US Navy veteran serving from April of 1945 until October of 1946.

He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors' degree in Economics. He worked at McColm's for 13 years until it closed on March 2, 1963. While at McColm's he managed the rug and drapery department for five years. He opened Price's Floor Covering and Draperies on March 4, 1963, and retired in 1989. He was a member of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish; was a life member of BPO Elks Lodge; was a NASCAR race fan; and was a loyal Cubs fan.

Those left to honor his memory include one son, Michael D. Price and wife, Linda, of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Heather Robinson and husband, Bill, of Ames, Jamie Bennett and husband, Chris, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Robyn Oakes of Madison Heights, Michigan; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Logan, and Lindsey Robinson and Charlie and Gus Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one daughter, Susan Oakes, on March 23, 2009.
